Desa Tenganan Pegringsingan

Desa Tenganan Pegringsingan is one of the oldest Balinese Ancient Villages in Manggis District, Karangasem Regency. When somebody entered the village, the atmosphere feeling of peace, tranquillity, and fresh clean air is presented by the traditional village.

Desa Tenganan

Preserving and conserving their culture was influenced by their myth story and also sticking firmly towards awig-awig or their customary law that was written in the 11th century and renewed in the 1842. In this case their environment is protected and their culture keeps alive.

In each of their home presents handicraft for tourists at the front side and their home at the back side. They make their handicrafts such as the unique Ikat Pangringsingan, painted eggs made out of real eggs or wooden carving, palm leaves hand drawing and writing by burnt walnuts, and wooden carving masks. 1. Ya Tenganan! I think I recognize this. But I thought it was named Tenganan Dauh Tukad? If it is the same I went to visit the village with family and friends. We paid a visit to the lady of our hotel that helped us with arrange our wedding and lives there with here family. They showed us the double IKAT weaving and after that we saw the Pandan warrior fights! Which is a great event 😀

    1. Ah, I’ve googled immediately and briefly after I read your comment. It’s interesting because I have found an article that mentioned Desa Tenganan as 3 complex which are Desa Tenganan Pegringsingan, Desa Tenganan Dauh Tukad and Desa Tenganan Pesedahan. So, they are all neighbours and share similar myth. Now, makes me want to explore the other 2 villages 😀 But I do want to see events such as that Pandan warriors!

      1. Aaah I wondered about this since I also noticed different names before, and your coordinates showed it was almost the same location. Thanks for the info. Btw at the school at these villages we sponsored the school with schooluniforms for the children 😀
