Desa Tenganan Pegringsingan is one of the oldest Balinese Ancient Villages in Manggis District, Karangasem Regency. When somebody entered the village, the atmosphere feeling of peace, tranquillity, and fresh clean air is presented by the traditional village.

Preserving and conserving their culture was influenced by their myth story and also sticking firmly towards awig-awig or their customary law that was written in the 11th century and renewed in the 1842. In this case their environment is protected and their culture keeps alive.
Walking into Desa Tenganan, will give you inspiration and uniqueness because they preserve their building structure the same way since ancient times. In each of their home presents handicraft for tourists at the front side and their home at the back side. They make their handicrafts such as the unique Ikat Pangringsingan, painted eggs made out of real eggs or wooden carving, palm leaves hand drawing and writing by burnt walnuts, and wooden carving masks. Other than that, along the way, you would see ancient buildings that is still used until today for many traditional occasions such as Balai Adat.
